Newsroom, December 23, 2025: A 48-year-old man, recently out on bail for a prior assault, poured petrol on his sleeping wife, two step-children, and mother-in-law before igniting them in their Sivakasi home early Tuesday.
The victims, aged 35, 18, 15, and 66, suffered critical burns and were rushed to a local government hospital alongside the accused, who sustained near-total burns.
Police launched an investigation into the quarrel-fueled attack in this Virudhunagar district town, famous for producing most of India's firecrackers.
