Amaravati, December 24, 2025: Tirupati Member of Parliament Maddila Gurumoorthy formally requested the Union government to establish an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Tirupati.

In a letter to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, he called for an immediate feasibility study and support for land, funding, infrastructure, faculty, and programs.

Gurumoorthy highlighted Tirupati's rise as an education centre, home to IIT Tirupati and IISER, which already draws talent and research.

He argued an IIM would strengthen public higher education, drive balanced regional growth, and make quality management studies affordable for rural and economically disadvantaged students in Rayalaseema reducing the need to relocate to far-off metros.
