Amaravati, December 25: Housing sales across India's top nine cities plunged 16% year-on-year to 98,019 units in the October-December quarter of 2025, marking a 17-quarter low according to real estate analytics firm PropEquity.
New supply also fell 10% to 88,427 units, with declines hitting most markets except Delhi-NCR and Navi Mumbai.
The slowdown hit affordable and mid-segment buyers hardest, driven by high property prices, delayed transmission of repo rate reductions to home loans, and a clear shift toward premium and luxury homes.
While volumes contracted, overall sales value held firm or grew due to this premiumization trend, buyers prioritised quality, branded projects, and larger units over sheer numbers.
