Amaravati, December 26 2025: BJP MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju has pressed for broad public consultation on the future of the lavish buildings atop Rushikonda hill in Visakhapatnam. Speaking after garlanding Atal Bihari Vajpayee's statue, he criticised the Cabinet Sub-Committee for not involving local MLAs, MPs, or residents in its deliberations. The sub-committee plans to submit recommendations to the government by December 29.

Raju argued that revenue alone should not drive decisions on the structures, built during the previous YSRCP regime at high cost and long criticised as a "white elephant."

He opposed handing them to major hotel groups, saying it would block access for ordinary citizens. Instead, he suggested exploring options like a Tirumala temple-linked exhibition to position Visakhapatnam as both an investment and spiritual hub.
