Amaravati, December 26 2025: Telugu cinema wrapped 2025 much like the year before: over 200 releases, yet only a handful broke through at the box office. Pan-India action epics faced growing fatigue as viewers stuck to digital screens, leaving theaters empty for many big-budget efforts.
What worked were relatable comedies and fresh narratives. Venkatesh's Sankranthiki Vasthunam brought laughs during Sankranti and topped charts with strong regional pull. Low-budget gems like Little Hearts turned modest investments into solid earners through word-of-mouth and family appeal. Films such as Court, The Great Pre-Wedding Show (with its rural Andhra Pradesh roots), and Anaganaga succeeded by focusing on simple storytelling, underdog tales, and organic buzz.
Star-driven action like They Call Him OG (Pawan Kalyan) and Kuberaa drew initial crowds, but sustained runs depended on gripping plots. Animation Mahavatar Narasimha and superhero Mirai also stood out for high returns on engaging visuals rooted in epics.
