AP high court dismisses challenges to Group-2 reservation process

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on December 30, 2025 dismissed petitions contesting the reservation method in APPSC's Group-2 recruitment, clearing a major hurdle for thousands of job aspirants. The ruling upholds the ongoing process after the Mains exam earlier this year.

Amaravati, December 30, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has rejected multiple petitions challenging the reservation roster and related aspects in the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission's (APPSC) Group-2 recruitment notification from 2023.

Petitioners, mainly unsuccessful candidates, sought cancellation of the notification and a fresh one, citing non-compliance with Supreme Court guidelines on roster points and issues with horizontal reservations for women, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen, and sports persons.

The court found the grievances misplaced, noting that roster points apply only at the final selection stage, not in the initial notification, and do not affect individual marks.

The process adhered to relevant government orders, including discretion on qualifying marks and shortlisting ratios. State counsel argued that accepting such late challenges from failed applicants risked endless litigation and delays in public hiring.

The recruitment drew massive response: over 4.83 lakh applications, with around 92,250 qualifying for Mains held on February 23, 2025, and certificate verification completed for 2,538 candidates. This ends a long wait since the last Group-2 notification in 2018.
