Amaravati, January 02, 2026: The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has constituted a high-level 13-member committee to tackle long-standing inter-state water disputes between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Chaired by the Central Water Commission chairman, the panel includes four representatives each from both states, plus the heads of the Krishna and Godavari River Management Boards.

It follows a July 2025 meeting between the Jal Shakti Minister and the two Chief Ministers, aiming for technical, equitable solutions on Krishna and Godavari basin projects, including Polavaram-related concerns.

The committee will study pending issues, suggest fair water-sharing mechanisms, and submit its report within three months.
