Congress top brass may visit bandlapalli for MGNREGA protest

Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to visit Bandlapalli in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district on February 2, ahead of Congress's nationwide MGNREGA Bachao Andolan launch on February 5. The symbolic site marks 20 years since the rural jobs scheme began there.

Top Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and party president Mallikarjun Kharge are expected to visit Bandlapalli village in Anantapur district's Narpala mandal (Singanamala constituency) on February 2.

This rural spot holds deep ties to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), launched nationally from here on February 2, 2006, by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh alongside Sonia Gandhi and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
