Amaravati, January 03, 2026: A leopard quietly entered the residence of temple priest Satyanarayana Sastri along the Pathalaganga route in Srisailam during the early hours of Friday. CCTV footage later revealed the animal roaming the premises calmly, likely drawn by food waste or offerings near the forested edge.

The family discovered the recording in the morning and expressed relief that no one slept outdoors, as the encounter could have turned dangerous. No one was hurt, and the leopard left without incident.

Forest officials from the Nallamala Tiger Reserve noted that growing human activity and poor waste management push leopards closer to settlements in search of easy prey.

Authorities ramped up night patrols, issued advisories to avoid solo walks after dark, and plan better fencing plus garbage relocation to cut attractions like discarded coconuts and temple food.
