Amaravati, January 05, 2026: Social Welfare Minister Dr Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy highlighted the Andhra Pradesh government's priority on empowering differently-abled persons while marking Louis Braille's 217th birth anniversary at a state-level programme in Ongole.
The minister paid tributes to Braille and outlined key initiatives under the TDP-led NDA coalition.
The government provides free travel in RTC buses for differently-abled persons, financial subsidies, skill development through SAAP sports training, ground-floor housing allotments, and a dedicated degree college in Bapatla for deaf and mute students.
Backlog government posts for differently-abled candidates will fill by month's end, with direct pension transfers to residential college students. The minister urged districts to allocate land for disability hostels and stressed UDID card adoption.
