Amaravati, January 05, 2026: The first Gram Sabha in Andhra Pradesh’s newly formed Markapuram district unfolded in Tippayapalem village today under the “Swachh Sankranti Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission” (G RAM G) initiative.
District Collector P. Rajababu and local MLA Kandula Narayana Reddy led the session, stressing that clean surroundings bring respect and fuel development. Villagers greeted officials with traditional drum beats and flowers.
Discussions centred on personal and environmental hygiene, monthly themed cleanliness programs, and large-scale Swachh Sankranti efforts this month.
Authorities highlighted achievements since the district’s creation on December 31, 2025 including 119 km of cement roads built, an upgraded government hospital now at district level, and strong focus on waste management and sanitation.
Plans aim to position the region as a horticulture powerhouse for farmers while attracting industries through a large land bank for jobs.
