Newsroom, January 05, 2026: India's exposure to Venezuelan oil remains minimal amid the ongoing political upheaval in the South American nation.
Data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry reveals that crude imports from Venezuela totalled $255.3 million in the financial year up to November 2025 only about 0.3% of India's overall oil purchases.
This marks a sharp decline from earlier peaks, driven by U.S. sanctions since 2019 that prompted Indian refiners to scale back ties and avoid secondary penalties.
Venezuela's global oil role stays small, contributing roughly 1% of world production and 3.5% of OPEC exports, with most volumes heading to China.
