Amaravati, January 06, 2026: Farmers associated with the Nallamada Rythu Sangham have stepped up demands to extend the Guntur channel to Parchuru in Bapatla district.

The project, approved administratively in 2019 with a cost of Rs 274.53 crore, aims to deliver reliable water for irrigation and domestic use after years of scarcity in the region.

The channel currently serves parts of Guntur district effectively, but progress stalls in Bapatla due to pending land acquisition funds.

Authorities released Rs 75.11 crore for Guntur areas in 2025, yet none reached Bapatla's revenue division. A recent request for Rs 7 crore to acquire land in Parchuru remains unanswered, halting key steps like social impact assessments.
