Amaravati, January 06, 2026: The long-awaited doubling of the Pakala-Katpadi railway line moved forward as land acquisition picked up pace in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district.

Officials aim to hand over acquired land to Indian Railways by March, with initial works set to begin on the Tirupati-Pakala section.

Notifications for land have been issued, and architectural drawings for the full Tirupati-Katpadi stretch via Chittoor are submitted. The project, spanning 104 km across Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 1,332 crore, will be executed in EPC mode with strict timelines.
