Amaravati, January 06, 2026: In villages across Andhra Pradesh, particularly in West Godavari district like Pulapalli and areas near Palakol, preparations for the harvest festival are in full swing days ahead of the official Makar Sankranti on January 14-15.
Farmers have already stored paddy and other crops, painted homes, prepared traditional sweets, and bought new clothes for families.
Favourable weather enabled timely harvesting, prompting pujas to farming tools, bullocks, and rain gods to seek continued prosperity.
Cultural groups perform door-to-door blessings with songs, feats, and offerings, while rangoli, kite flying, and folk processions add to the joy.
