Amaravati, January 07, 2026: The Hospital Development Society has cleared major upgrades worth Rs 10 crore at Ongole Government General Hospital (GGH-RIMS).
The plan includes building a new outpatient block, repairing air-conditioning in operation theatres, installing a modern laundry system, and adding dedicated water lines.
Other steps cover shifting the nursing college to free up space, constructing sheds for patient attendants, setting up CCTV and a command control room, and preventing animal entry.
Nine of 15 operation theatres had been non-functional due to AC faults; these fixes aim to restore full capacity. A critical care unit was recently inaugurated as part of ongoing enhancements.
District Collector Raja Babu chaired the decision, with Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan Rao pushing for attendant facilities.
