Amaravati, January 08, 2026: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan addressed a national workshop on the Mangrove Initiative for Shoreline Habitats and Tangible Incomes (MISHTI) in Vijayawada.

He stressed mangroves' vital role as natural shields against cyclones, floods, and erosion along Andhra Pradesh's long coastline, especially in the Krishna and Godavati deltas.

Pawan Kalyan highlighted recent progress: the state developed mangroves across nearly 700 hectares in 2025. He outlined future steps, including a three-tier green belt, community involvement for sustainable jobs via eco-tourism and skill training, and the broader “Great Green Wall” push to raise green cover to 50%.
