Amaravati, January 09, 2026: The Flamingo Festival returns to Pulicat Lake in Tirupati district on January 10 and 11, organized by the district administration.
This annual event celebrates the arrival of thousands of migratory birds, including greater flamingos, to India's second-largest brackish lagoon a Ramsar wetland site shared with Tamil Nadu.
Key spots include Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary, Atakanithippa, BV Palem Point, Ubbalamadugu Waterfalls, and Irukkam Island.
Visitors can enjoy guided birdwatching, affordable boating (₹30 for 40 minutes, ₹100 for Irukkam Island round trip), paragliding, hot air ballooning, cultural performances, and stalls from local artisans and government departments.
Free buses run from select points, with strong safety measures like CCTV, drones, and crowd control in place. Around 6,000 students will attend at government cost to build environmental awareness.
