Amaravati, January 09, 2026: SRM University-AP unveiled bold steps to lead in emerging technologies, establishing dedicated institutes for artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and clean energy.
The move aligns with Andhra Pradesh's ambition to become a hub for deep tech, especially with Amaravati positioned as a Green Hydrogen Valley.
A key highlight is the MoU with Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science to set up an AI Institute. This will embed advanced AI education and solutions across all disciplines, from engineering to humanities and management.
For quantum tech, the university plans a Quantum Institute focused on research, training, and partnerships, plus a Quantum Reference Centre and Quantum Computer in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh government to democratise access to these tools.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Satish Kumar shared these plans at a Vijayawada event, stressing the need to build a skilled workforce ready for future demands.
