Amaravati, January 11, 2026: The Gandikota Festival 2026 began on a lively note in Kadapa district, drawing crowds eager to explore the site's dramatic gorge often called India's Grand Canyon and its historic fort.

Ministers inaugurated the event, which featured a grand Sobha Yatra showcasing historical Telugu characters, cookery contests highlighting local delicacies, photo exhibitions, and special history sessions.

A major highlight is the new helicopter rides offering stunning aerial views of the deep gorge carved by the Penna River, the ancient Madhavaraya temple, and the iconic Jama Masjid.

The festival revives a cherished tradition after a brief pause, blending Andhra Pradesh's rich heritage with adventure tourism. Special bus services from APSRTC make it accessible, while overnight stays are popular for breathtaking gorge sunrises.
