Amaravati, January 11, 2026: Andhra Pradesh is elevating river tourism with the introduction of luxury houseboats on the Krishna River, inspired by Kerala's iconic backwaters. Private operators, including Kerala-based Grandeur Cruise Group and Simple India Group, are building premium vessels at Pavithra Sangamam ghat in Ibrahimpatnam.

These include a massive 125-foot, five-bedroom dinner cruise with dancing decks, restaurants, and space for 200 guests, plus capsule houses and floating pods for overnight stays featuring stunning sunrise and sunset views.

The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) supports the initiative, integrating new additions with its existing cruise fleet that ferries visitors to spots like Bhavani Island.

Proposals for family-oriented three-bedroom houseboats are also underway. Enquiries are rising fast, with day-long or overnight options expected to draw both domestic and international tourists.
