Amaravati, January 11, 2026: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sharply criticised former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for his recent comments against the Amaravati capital project, accusing him of spreading false propaganda and misunderstanding the difference between a riverbed and river basin.

Speaking informally to mediapersons at the TDP headquarters in Vijayawada, Naidu emphasised that great civilisations, including the Indus Valley, flourished along riverbanks.

He argued that major world cities are built on such locations and insisted there would be no compromise on Andhra Pradesh's river water rights. Naidu called for cooperation between Telugu states to utilise surplus water for shared prosperity, warning that water disputes would harm everyone.
