Amaravati, January 13, 2026: The state government has cleared the way for an open-model flyover at Ranasthalam, a busy junction in Srikakulam district along National Highway-16.

The project, funded by the National Highways Authority of India at around ₹250 crore, includes the flyover plus road widening on both sides.

An open design allows seamless crossing without blocking ground-level access, addressing earlier concerns from traders who feared a closed structure would hurt business.

Construction is advancing quickly after delays from local objections and land issues; officials target completion by late 2026. Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu played a key role in talks with NHAI to secure the trader-friendly plan.
