Amaravati, January 13, 2026: The Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam on Indrakeeladri hill in Vijayawada has lined up grand Makara Sankranti festivities to celebrate the harvest and Telugu heritage.
Traditional Bhogi bonfires light up at 5 a.m. on January 14 near the Sri Mahaganapati Swamy temple, marking renewal and the end of winter.
The highlight is the classic Bommala Koluvu artistic arrangements of dolls depicting divine forms and cultural scenes open from January 14 to 16 across temple areas like the seventh floor of Maha Mandapam.
Visitors will enjoy Gangireddula shows, Haridasu devotional songs, and other folk arts, blending devotion with community joy.
Temple leaders, including Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik and Chairman Borra Radhakrishna, have reviewed arrangements such as Annadanam food service for hygiene and quality. A new Goshala shed inauguration adds to the auspicious start in nearby Poranki.
